Toluene (Methylbenzene C7H8) is a clear, water-insoluble liquid aromatic hydrocarbon featuring a characteristic sweet benzene-like odor. Serves as a powerful solvent across East Africa for dissolving paints, synthetic resins, alkyds, rubbers, adhesives, and gravure printing inks.
High-purity aromatic solvent containing 99.8% min Toluene, ≤0.05% Benzene, ≤0.02% water, and low non-volatiles. Provides strong solvency power (Kauri-Butanol value ~105) and rapid evaporation rates in coating and adhesive formulations.
Flammable solvent dispatch requires approved dangerous goods transport documentation.
Highly flammable liquid (Class 3). Store in grounded, fire-rated chemical stores away from direct sunlight, heat, sparks, open flames, and oxidizing agents.
Flammable liquid and vapor. May be fatal if swallowed and enters airways (aspiration hazard). Causes skin irritation and suspected of damaging fertility or the unborn child (STOT RE 2). Handle with explosion-proof equipment and organic vapor respirators.
