Glacial Acetic Acid (99.8%) is an anhydrous organic carboxylic acid. Termed 'glacial' because it solidifies into ice-like crystals just below room temperature (16.6°C), it is widely used in textile dye fixing, latex coagulation, acetate ester manufacturing, descaling formulations, and food acidification.
Clear, colorless liquid with a strong vinegar odor. High purity (99.8% min, water <0.15%) makes it a versatile organic acidifying agent. Fully miscible with water, alcohol, and ether.
If drums solidify in cold weather, warm gently (water bath <40°C) to reliquefy; do not apply direct flame.
Store above 17°C to prevent freezing/crystallization in drums. Store in acid-resistant HDPE drums or stainless steel containers away from strong bases and oxidizing agents.
DANGER: Flammable liquid and vapor. Causes severe skin burns and eye damage. Vapors cause severe respiratory irritation. Wear acid face shield, neoprene gloves, and organic/acid gas respirator.
Eye Contact: Immediately flush with water for 20 min. Skin: Flush thoroughly. Swallowed: Rinse mouth, do NOT induce vomiting, call doctor immediately.
